Realistic credit estimate for CSV enrichment

Calibrated to Yelp's actual L90 data · Per Apollo KB rules · Updated 2026-05-08
Yelp
Apollo's CSV preview shows a worst-case ceiling assuming every contact runs through every step of your waterfall. In reality, waterfall enrichment looks across all sources, charges only the first one that returns a match, then validates that match once. Two charges per matched contact, total. This calculator uses Yelp's actual last-90-day data from Snowflake to show what really happens.

How a single contact actually runs through Yelp's waterfall

Apollo queries your 10 configured providers in order. Only the first provider that finds the contact is charged. Then the validator runs once. Providers that find nothing charge zero. Maximum possible per contact: 52 credits (Global Database 50 + ZeroBounce 2). Pick a scenario and hit Play.

What Apollo's CSV preview showed J'aime
155 credits / contact
31,000 credits for 200 contacts — 3× higher than the absolute maximum possible
Real maximum (Global Database + ZeroBounce + phone)
57 credits / contact
Email max 52 + phone 5. So 200 contacts × 57 = 11,400 credits absolute ceiling

How waterfall billing actually works

Verbatim rules from Apollo's official KB articles, applied to Yelp's specific configuration.

  1. Credits charge only when data is found, not per source attempted. If a source can't find an email or phone, no credit is charged for that attempt. KB · What Are Credits ↗
  2. Each provider that finds data charges credits, even if the email is unverified. So if 3 providers each find an email before a verified one is located, you pay 3 find credits + the verified provider's credit. KB · Waterfall Overview ↗
  3. Validation source charges separately if your admin connected one in global waterfall settings. Validates each found data point. KB · Waterfall Overview ↗
  4. Stop condition `verified_entity` means the waterfall halts as soon as a verified email is returned. Yelp's email template uses this stop condition. Most contacts stop early.
  5. API-key-connected providers charge their own credits outside Apollo's pool. Yelp has zero external API key configs, so all charges count against the Apollo credit limit.
  6. Per-source rates vary. Different providers cost different amounts. Yelp's L90 actual: 33 credits avg per email-attempt across all providers, 5 credits avg per phone-attempt.
